Heat Watch

Two Mac editions. Compare them side by side.

Heat Watch sits in the Mac menu bar and shows how hot and busy your Mac is. It comes in two editions. The full version can see inside other apps: it names the one keeping your Mac busy and offers to quit it. The Lite edition from the Mac App Store sees the whole Mac, and works within the App Store sandbox.

Which one is right for you?

Choose the full edition if you want to know which app is behind the heat, and to act on it from Heat Watch. Choose Lite if you want to know how hot and busy the Mac is and get warned when it stays that way, from the App Store, with updates through the App Store.

Lite can't see other apps, so when it notices a busy Mac it points you to Activity Monitor, sorted by CPU or GPU, to find the app.

Shared by both editions

  • Menu bar meter CPU and GPU use at a glance, with network after them.
  • Thermal alerts When macOS starts slowing the Mac down to cool it.
  • History Charts of CPU and GPU over time, a log of recent alerts, and CSV export.
  • Open at login Start with the Mac, so it's always in the menu bar.
  • Private No accounts and no tracking.
